Evelyn Regina Watson, age 87, of Apopka, FL and a former resident of Inverness, passed away at her residence on December 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born on March 24, 1929 in Hawkins County, TN to the late James H. and Anna Elizabeth (Guthrie) Hope. On May 20, 1949 she married her childhood sweetheart, Jack E. Watson, with whom she shared 67 loving years of marriage.

Evelyn was a very spiritual person and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She formerly attended worship services at the First United Methodist Church, Inverness where she sang in the choir for many years. In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed growing roses and loved to sew. Her family was her world and she was an extremely dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Evelyn saved every greeting card and letter she ever received from her family and would often take the time to re-read them. She was also a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her loving husband Jack, those left to mourn Evelyn’s passing include son, Jack S. Watson of Brentwood, TN; daughters: Julia Leigh Whitt and her husband Scott Butler of Apopka, FL, Jan D. Watson-Hastie and her husband Dr. Joseph Hastie of Auburn, AL; grandchildren: Brandon Whitt, Ashley Johnson and her husband Ryan, Amber Hess and her husband Doug, Josh Watson and his wife Vicki, Dru Washburn; great grandchildren: Luke, Cade and Emerald Johnson, Jack and Sam Watson, Jackson, Will and Sam Washburn, and Jude and Eliza Rose Hess; and sister Vivian Arnold and her husband Bill. In addition to her parent’s, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Hope.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Sarah Campbell of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness officiating. Evelyn’s family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
