Walker Samuel Evey, Jr., 89, of Inverness, FL passed away November 23, 2016 at Life Care Center, Lecanto, FL. He was born in St. Petersburg, FL on October 23, 1927 to the late Walker S. and Lucille (Lovelace) Evey, Sr. Walker was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and arrived in this area in 2000, coming from Sylva, NC. He was a Protestant by faith, and enjoyed sports by participating in the Senior Olympics, playing computer games, and taking walks. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Walker Evey in July 2016, and one daughter, Cindy Mason. Survivors include his children Walker L. “Lee” Evey and his wife Virginia of Springfield, VA, and Mari Jo Shepherd and her husband Jim of Floral City, FL; brothers Forest E. Evey of Floral City, FL, Paul B. Evey of San Antonio, TX, and Donald L. Evey of Gainesville FL; sister Audrey C. Evey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Walker’s urn will be laid to rest at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City at a later date. Private cremation arrangements under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
