Daniel J Cizek

Daniel J. Cizek, 90 of Inverness, Florida and formerly of Berwyn, Illinois, died November 3rd, 2016. Mr. Cizek was a 1943 graduate of Morton High School in Cicero, Illinois.

Mr. Cizek, a WWII veteran, enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He served as a Seaman 1st class from 1943-1946 on the Naval destroyer USS Boyd, DD-544. Mr. Cizek sailed with the 3rd and 5th fleets in the Pacific Theater of war. He earned 10 battle stars.

After the war, Mr. Cizek had a long and distinguished career as a design draftsperson for several major corporations including the Ford Motor Company and the US Steel Corporation. His last position as a Supervising Designer was with the Bechtel Nuclear Power Corporation which he held until his retirement in 1986.

Dan and his wife Beverly retired to Inverness, Florida in a lake front house of his design. Mr. Cizek was a life time member of the American Legion Post 422 in Berwyn, Illinois. He also served as past Post Commander.

Mr. Cizek was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly J. Thompson/Cizek, his two sisters, Jean Cizek and June Brandeis/Cizek, and his brother Frank J. Cizek.

The inurnment ceremony will take place at the Florida National Military Cemetery located in Bushnell, Florida. The ceremony date to be announced.
