Willi John Schroeder, Jr., 75, of Inverness, Florida passed away Monday, July 11, 2016, at Diamond Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lecanto, Florida. He was born on October 31, 1940 in Manhattan, New York to the late Willi J. and Anna (Bullis) Schroeder.
Willi was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class. He arrived in this area in 1988, coming from Saudi Arabia, and was a Catholic by faith. Willi enjoyed bowling, driving, playing pinochle, traveling, and spending time with his family, friends, and his dog.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife wife of 57 years, Loretta Schroeder. Other survivors include his children, David Long and his wife Susie of New Hampshire, Willi John Schroeder III of Florida, and Emily Staggs and her husband Steve, also of Florida; sister Patricia Holt of New York, and 3 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 18, 11:00 A.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A Military Honor Guard Ceremony will be held at the funeral home, following the service.
Willi’s urn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Willi’s memory to Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Road, Inverness, FL 34450.
