Hancel Gene Leemaster, 85, of Inverness, Florida passed away July 11, 2016 at Brentwood Palms ALF in Lecanto, FL. He was born in Globe, KY on November 19, 1930 to the late Luther and Hazel (Chandler) Leemaster.
Gene was a U.S. Army, Korean War veteran and recipient of 3 bronze stars. He owned a KOA campground, as well as grocery stores. Gene arrived in this area in 2002, coming from Lake Havasu, AZ, and was a member of the American Legion Post #155, Crystal River, FL.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helena Leemaster in 2013. Gene is survived by his daughter and her husband, Denise and John Leib of W. Palm Beach, FL; sister, Joan Bersinger of Mansfield, OH; and one grandchild, Lindsey Whitton.
A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for Thursday, July 21, 11:00 A.M., at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Arrangements under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
