Dr. Eladio Tome Menorca, 79, of Lecanto, FL. entered into God’s Kingdom on July 6, 2016 at his residence in Lecanto. He was born on March 24, 1937 in Romblon, Philippine Islands to the late Cesario and Juanita (Tome) Menorca.
Eladio arrived in the United States in 1962, and became a U.S. citizen in 1972. While going to school as a child, he loved to sing “God Bless America”. He was very patriotic, and proud to be an American. Eladio did his urology training at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He operated a urology practice in Dunkirk-Fredonia, NY for nine years. He relocated his practice to New Port Richey in 1979.
Afterward, he retired to this area in 1999, coming from New Port Richey, FL. While in New Port Richey, he was a Urologist and practiced at Community Hospital, and North Bay Morton Plant Hospital. He also practiced at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point Hospital.
Eladio was a Catholic by faith, and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing tennis, and traveling.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, and 2 sisters, Leticia and Joretta. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Suzanne Menorca. Other survivors include his children: Douglas R. Menorca and his wife Diane of Washington, D.C., Elizabeth S. Harty and her husband Paul of the United Kingdom, and Alison P. Menorca of Brooklyn, NY, and 4 grandchildren: Lauren, Emma, Matthew and Samuel.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, July 16, 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Peter Thompson of HPH Hospice officiating, at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Family Organization, 6616 Rowan Road, New Port Richey, FL 34653, or the Black Diamond Foundation, 3125 W. Black Diamond Circle, Lecanto, FL 34461.
