David W. Johnston, age 74, of Inverness, FL died March 21, 2016 while under the care of Arbor Trail Nursing Home, Inverenss. David was born on September 23, 1941 in Farmington, MI to the late Earl and Virginia Johnston.
A welder by trade, he was employed as a boilermaker throughout his life. In 1963, he married Christine Church, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2013. David made Citrus County his home 30 years ago after relocating from Michigan. A Baptist by faith, he attended services at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness.
David loved to shop. He was also a talented and resourceful handyman and could build and repair just about anything. David also loved cars, racing, crafts and woodworking. He enjoyed watching sports and hunting and fishing in his spare time. David will be remembered as a generous man with a big heart, a great father and someone that was always there to help others in their time of need.
Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his son: David Johnston of Hernando, FL; two daughters: Corinna Johnston of Hernando, FL and Melanie Burns also of Hernando, FL; his brother: Tom Johnston of Kinross, MI; two sisters: Liane Johnston of Michigan and Mona Johnston of Marquette, MI; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and Aunt Juanita of Harrison, MI. In addition to his loving wife Christine, David was preceded in death by one daughter: Lynette Johnston; two brothers: Art Johnston and Norm Johnston; and one sister: Mary Beth Johnston.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is being planned by the family for a later date. The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness is assisting the family with private cremation arrangements.
