Lois R. Lawson, age 76, of Beverly Hills, FL, died March 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto, FL. Lois was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 26, 1939 to the late August and Ruth (Madson) Anderson.
On August 14, 1960, she married Gary Lawson with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. In 1999, Lois relocated to Florida from Staten Island, NY. In her youth, she was a member of the Hi-Y youth group and a Girl Scout. Lois went on to become a den mother for her son’s Boy Scout troops. She attended Brooklyn College and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. A woman of faith, Lois is a former member of the Kings Highway Methodist Church in Brooklyn, NY and the Huguenot Reformed Church in Staten Island, NY. She played basketball for the Kings Highway YMCA Church League for a few years.
Lois wore many hats throughout her professional life and had been employed as a nurse and special education teacher. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. Lois also had a tremendous love and talent for painting.
In addition to her loving husband Gary, those left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her four sons: Scott (Lynn) Lawson of Tampa, FL, Glenn Lawson of Christiansburg, VA, Robert (Amy) Lawson of Staten Island, NY and Gregory (Karin) Lawson of Staten Island, NY; She is also survived by her brother, George (Marie) Anderson of Staten Island, NY; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Russell.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL with Chaplain Kelly Greenwall of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Lois’ memory to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
