Chester J. “Chet” White, 85, Inverness passed away suddenly March 18, 2016. Chet was born March 30, 1930 in Georgetown, KY to the late Willie and Clara (Whitten) White, one of nine children. He moved to Citrus County in 1978 from Columbus, OH and began many years of community service.

He and his wife Shirley founded the Stanley Steemer franchise in Citrus County, eventually expanding to adjoining states. Chet became involved in politics and was elected to the Citrus Board of County Commissioners (1990-1994). His other affiliations included Inverness Rotary Club, Invernesss Elks Lodge, and the Citrus County Zoning and Water boards. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Reaster) White; two children, Chet White and his wife, Jo of Inverness and Marilyn Coughlin and husband Terry of Tallahassee; 1 brother, Harold White, Augusta, GA; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Leslie) Thimmes, Brandie (Matt) Ballard, C.J. (Natalie) White and Tyler (Ashley) Thimmes, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and and one sister.

Friends may call at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home of Inverness Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Private funeral services and entombment will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills. Pastor Doug Alexander will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to Hospice of Citrus & The Nature Coast, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464
