Donald E. Whitmer, age 82, of Inverness, FL died March 18, 2016 while under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Donald was born on January 27, 1934 in Canton, OH to the late Kenneth and Emma (Harter) Whitmer.
On September 7, 1973, he married Eleanor Pruett, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage until her passing on September 29, 2014. Donald was employed by the Central States Can Company of Massillon, OH as a Tool and Die Maker for twenty five years. In 1997, he and Eleanor moved from Massillon, OH and made their home in Citrus County. A man of faith, Donald was a member of the Inverness Church of God.
Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his precious memory are step-son, Robert Hodges of Massillon, OH; step-daughter, Debra Barnhouse and her husband Greg of Massillon, OH; and grandson, Adam Gayheart of Los Angeles, CA. In addition to his loving wife Eleanor, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Randall.
