Alexander G Covey

Alexander Glenn Covey, age 72, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on February 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Alexander was born on July 20, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL to the late John and Margaret (Phillips) Covey.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. After his service in the military, Alexander was employed as an industrial water treatment consultant for 30 years. Alexander was an educated man and received his Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Mathematics.

On March 25, 2000 he married Eva “Jo” Goude with whom he shared over 16 wonderful years of marriage. In October 2004, they relocated to Marion County from Troy, NC. A Methodist by faith, Alexander was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and anything to do with chemistry and mathematics.

Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his precious memory are his loving wife and best friend, Eva “Jo” (Goude) Covey; his son, Jay Alexander Covey of Lehigh, UT; his sister, Elizabeth Covey Gunn of Oldsmar, FL; and two grandchildren.

A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be offered on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon with Pastor Eddie Fulford officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. A graveside service will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at 12:30 p.m. with full military honors rendered by the Inverness VFW Post #4337 Honor Guard. Arrangements under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
