ANGELO A. BRASCIA, age 93, Inverness, died July 26, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Angelo was born on April 24, 1922 in Staten Island, NY to the late Anthony and Christenia (Lecce) Brascia. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII and received a Purple Heart Medal for having been wounded in action. After his return from the war, he was employed by the New York City Fire Department as Superintendent of Buildings. Angelo was a member of the DAV Chapter #70 in Inverness, a member of the Purple Heart Association, Aaron Weaver Chapter. Angelo also was an accomplished horseman and enjoyed working with his horses. Left to treasure his memories is his wife of 35 years, Suzanne Brascia, stepchildren Thomas McNeil, Jr., Lori Ann McNeil, both of Staten Island, NY, a special nephew Dominick Brascia; brother-in-law Joseph Marraccino; several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Dominick Brascia and sisters Rose Pietrunti, Rachael Marraccino and Frances Leonardi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will follow with military honors at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends in visitation on Wednesday from 4-7 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Angelo’s memory to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast or The Salvation Army.
