Richard Allan “Rick” Jarvis, age 71, Inverness passed away at home on July 17, 2015 under the care of his family and Hospice. Rick was born August 17, 1943 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada to Richard Stanhope and Eleanor Mae (Derbyshire) Jarvis.
He lived in Peru for part of his childhood and then moved to Miami, Florida where he graduated from Coral Gables High School. Part of his adult life was spent living in Alabama. In 1993, Rick came to Inverness where he was the former owner of Dynabody Fitness Center prior to retirement.
He always took great pride in his business following his favorite motto, “plan your work and work your plan.” He truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. He had a great smile and sense of humor that brightened so many people’s lives.
Anyone who knew Rick knew where he would be at any time of day since he was so routine in his daily life. Early in life he had a great passion for flying airplanes. He also enjoyed watching and playing golf, playing racquetball, and going to the gym. His favorite movie was The Bucket List.
Rick was a loving father and devoted husband. He was so generous and caring and would do anything for his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Joan; 4 children, Rick Jarvis, North Bay Village, FL; Jessica DiLeo and husband, James of Inverness; Kristin Jarvis, Inverness; Stefania Jarvis, Crystal River; 1 brother, Victor Jarvis, Savannah, GA; 3 grandchildren, Hayden, Charleigh, and Jayden. Rick will be greatly loved and missed by his family and friends.
