Donald E Giddens

Donald Edwin Giddens, age 83, Gainesville, GA and formerly of Inverness, went to be with his Lord on June 20, 2015. A native Floridian, Don was born on January 19, 1932 in Pineola, FL. He attended Citrus County Schools and graduated with the class of 1950. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Don was employed by LP Gas for over 40 years in Inverness, starting as a delivery man and working his way up to management. His favorite hobby was woodworking. He was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church of Inverness and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Belva Giddens; his son Dwight (Tiffany) Giddens, Clermont, GA; daughter Rhonda (Dewey) Surface, Alpharetta, GA; his sister Earlene (Bill) Crews, Kingsland, GA; grandchildren Ryan, Allison, Heather, Melinda, Lauren and Dakota and great-grandchildren Lane, Lilly, Crosby, Aedan and Miles. He was preceded in death by his brother Dewey W. Giddens. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Burial will follow with military honors at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends in visitation from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. Memorial donations are suggested to First Baptist Church of Inverness or Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 5233 Will Wheeler Road, Murrayville, GA 30564 in lieu of flowers.
