Henry “Hank” Van Marler, 79, of Inverness, passed away Friday, June 18, 2015 at the Hospice of Citrus County Hospice House in Lecanto. He was born on January 20, 1936 in Glens Falls, NY to the late Herbert Marler and Marian (Shaver) Marler. Hank arrived in this area from New York in the 1970’s. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a long haul truck driver. Hank was a member of the Inverness Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a member of the I.R.R.U., also located in Inverness. He was an accomplished musician and singer, and played the keyboard as well as the bass and guitar. Hank was preceded in death by his loving step-father, Johnny Wilson. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Marilyn. He is also survived by his sons: Hank Marler, Jr. and wife Jamie of New York; John Marler of Florida; step-sons: Eric Cain and wife Michelle of Michigan; Duke Cain and wife Dawn of Michigan; his daughters: Dawn Langer and husband Tim of Inverness; Laurie Baker of New York, and step-daughter Marsha Davis of Michigan. Other surviors include several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private arrangements by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Hank’s memory to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
