George P Helvy

GEORGE P. HELVY, age 77, Belleview, died May 26, 2015 under the care of the staff at the Sylvia Hospice House in Ocala and his loving family. George was born on September 10, 1937 in Poplar Bluff, MO to the late Columbus L. and Nellie May (Cox) Helvy. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. George was a long-distance truck driver, a job he enjoyed very much as it allowed him the ability to travel through most of the states. When he was not trucking, he liked to watch television and his particular favorites were John Wayne and Clint Eastwood westerns as well as Gunsmoke, Bonanza and Walker– Texas Ranger. George also enjoyed fishing with his grandsons. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Bernice Helvy; his son B.J. Helvy and daughter Jenie May Callahan (husband-Sonny) all of Belleview; grandchildren Gina, Donny, Darrell and Christopher and great-grandchildren Ethan, Grayson, Gabin, Jayden, Sander, Jancie, Rhea, Brianna, Natalie, Colby, Jackson, McKenzie and one on-the-way! A graveside military service will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery. Friends may gather at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory at 1:45 to join the procession to the cemetery.
