ROBERT W. OLMEN, age 88, Inverness, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior May 20, 2015 under the care of the staff of Citrus Health and Rehab Center and his loving family. Robert was born on August 16, 1926 in Duluth, MN to the late Daniel and Anna (Christianson) Olmen. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII. After the war ended, he worked for the U.S. Government. He was then employed by Univac Defense Systems Division as the director of Research. A man who loved the Lord, Robert was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was active in many of the ministries as well as Gideon’s International. Along with his brother, Donald, he was the owner of Camper’s World in Inverness for many years. He ended his working career as a professor of business at Greenville College (IL) and started the first work study program there. Robert was an inventor and held two patents in his name. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 18 years, Betty Olmen; his son Timothy A. (Beth) Olmen, Mint Hill, NC; daughter Julie A. (Tony) Hester, Sandoval, IL; stepdaughters Pamela Bradford, Inverness and Cheryl (Gary) Anderson, Fort Lauderdale and his beloved grandchildren Jeremy, Kibbie, Katie Leigh, James, Ricky, Katie Lynn and great-grandchildren Caetano, Christiano, Saigon, Kellan, Sophie, Braxton and Kenzi. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine after 42 years of marriage, his first-born son, Robert Michael and all of his siblings, Stanley, Donald, Marvel and Margie. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Bruce Wenger from Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with military honors rendered by VFW Post #7122 of Floral City. The family will greet friends in visitation from 11:00 until the hour of service. The family requests donations in Robert’s memory to Gideons International in lieu of flowers.
