John J Haney

JOHN JOSEPH HANEY, JR. age 86, Inverness, FL died May 10, 2015 under the loving care of his family and the staff of Hospice of Citrus and Nature Coast. John was born on August 22, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late John J. Haney, Sr. and Margaret (Greer) Haney. He proudly served our country aboard the USS Boxer during the Korean War in the United States Navy. John was proud of his Scottish heritage. John was employed as a supervisor in the machinery maintenance industry. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. John was an avid football fan, everything “Miami Dolphins.” He was known to tinker and had a garage full of tools to help him repair or build anything he put his mind to. He also enjoyed working in his yard. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 25 years, Karen Haney; his children John J. Haney III and his wife Cynthia, Cooper City, FL, Linda (Haney) Green and her husband James David, Acworth, GA, David G. Haney and his wife Susan, Sunrise, FL, Timothy R. Haney, Hollywood, FL; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his former spouse and Mother of his children, Rita Haney. One of 9 children, he was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Burial will follow with military honors at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends in visitation from 12:30 PM until the hour of service.
