CAROLYN C. “CAROL” McGee AKA Carol Strickner/Carol Scheu of Inverness, Florida entered into rest while helping out family members. She died unexpectedly in her sleep on March 22nd, at the age of 70. Carol was born on March 25, 1944 in Rochester, NY to the late George and Iva (Goodman) McGee. She graduated from St. Joseph Business School. Carol was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW #4337 of Inverness, a member of the Scottsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, employed in accounting, as a teachers aide in Wheatland Chili School district for special education, crossing guard (Scottsville, NY), Marriott Hotel, lighting and sound technician for a musical band and volunteered frequently to help out others. Best of all, she was a wonderful stay at home Mom as well as the neighborhood “Mom.” She was a doting “snowbird” Grandmother (GrammaGee). Carol very much enjoyed living in the moment. She was known for being very hip and up-to-date on her wardrobe. She had a love of fun for life, amusement parks (loved roller coasters), beaches, swimming, sun tanning, reading fiction novels, food and chocolate. T.V. was a favorite pastime (loved sci-fi movies). She collected many dragon paraphernalia. She had a love for music and dance. Carol was just plain fun to be around. Carol is predeceased by her son, Daniel “Dan” Strickner. Left to cherish her memory are siblings Jim (Orina) McGee and George “Bob” (Barb) McGee; many nieces, nephews and cousins; son Bryan (Phoebe) Strickner, Guam; daughter Amy (Strickner) and Rick Vos, Williamson, NY. She leaves behind 8 of her grandchildren, Dakota, Amanda, Emma, Jeffrey, Timothy, Patrick, Victoria and Celeste. Carol leaves many wonderful friends and recent companion Tom Whitcher. A memorial service will be announced at a later date in New York. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the closest Ladies Auxiliary of VFW.
