Harold Delbert Lykins, 80, Inverness, passed away Friday, Apr 17, 2015 in Citrus Memorial Hospital. Mr Lykins was born in Muncie, IN on Dec 16, 1934 to the late Vernie and Pearl (McMichael) Lykins and came to Citrus County from Pinellas Park, FL 18 years ago. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Inverness Church of God where he served as a Deacon. Additionally, he was a Salvation Army volunteer and participated in the church’s “Primetimers” organization. He was a lifetime fisherman and now is fishing in a “crystal lake”.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy (Shepherd) Lykins; four children, Vernie K. (Norma) Lykins and Harold D. (Sherrie) Lykins, both of Bradenton, FL; John-L (Lisa) Lykins of Riverview, FL and Patsy I. (Shawn) Bland of Payne, OH; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Don) Amari, Wanda (Loren) Jennings, and Kaye Parra Kelly (Fidel). He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Newcomer.
Harold’s Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, April 23rd at 11:00 AM from the Inverness Church of God with Pastor David Lucas officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Committal services will be at a later date following cremation. Chas E Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials requested to Salvation Army Corp of Citrus County.
