EDNA “ELKE” WONSON, 89, of Inverness died Monday, March 16, 2015 at her home under the care of HPH Hospice. Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 27, 1925 to the late Henry and Ingke (Flor) Petersen, she came here over 30 years ago from Westfield, Massachusetts. Edna was a retired Vice President with Franklin National Bank in Manhattan, NY with over 20 years of service. She was a member of the Inverness Golf & Country Club where she was an avid golfer. Edna also enjoyed playing bridge with friends, entertaining, reading and gardening. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, John Fletcher “Fletch” Wonson on May 2, 1990. Left to cherish her memory are her niece and nephew Karen and Foster Winter; step-children Candace McGinn and Pam and Howard Pease; step-grandchildren Erin, Jeremy, Jill, Keith, Rebecca, Robert and Tracy; great-grandchildren Evan, Liam and Sarah; grand nephew Zack; and Kiki, Edna’s beloved cat, who is now happily living in California. Edna loved animals of all kinds and was a generous contributor to wildlife and domestic animal charities. In memory of Edna, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Citrus County, P.O. Box 2283, Inverness, FL 34451. Private cremation services are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory of Inverness.
