DOUGLAS “DOUG” EUGENE WHEELER, age 77, Inverness, died July 24, 2015 under the care of his loving family and the staff of Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills. Doug was born on July 23, 1938 in Rochester, NY to the late William and Marjorie (Hilts) Wheeler. He was employed as teamster for a freight company for 15 years and then worked as a warehouse manager for Habitat for Humanity for several years. He also served as a volunteer with many hours of service to Habitat for Humanity. Left to treasure the memories of his life are his sons Eugene (Wendy) Wheeler, Churchville, NY, Jay (Mary Ann) Wheeler, Churchville, NY; his daughter Elizabeth (Ken) Everts, Inverness; his sister Susan (Ron) Rozinski, Greece, NY and nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren; his loving companion, Marilyn Cartwright; nieces and nephews and his dog, “Bandit”. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, “Dee” Wheeler on Dec 21, 2008 and a grandchild. A celebration and tribute to Doug’s life will be held in New York at a later date. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family.
