George L Mercer

George L. Mercer, 88, of Beverly Hills, Florida passed away on February 9, 2015 at Hospice of Citrus County, Lecanto, Florida. He was born on May 5, 1926 in Blue Rock, Ohio to the late Howard W. and Alice M. (Ewing) Mercer. George was a Comptroller for the M.W.A. Company in Owosso, Michigan, and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He arrived in this area 26 years ago, coming from Owosso, and attended Crystal River Church of God. George enjoyed painting, fishing, hunting, farming, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his brother Howard Mercer. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Mercer. Other survivors include his children Brian (Nancy) Mercer of Summerfield, FL, Kent (Lisa) Mercer of Ocala, FL, Sharon (Gary) Wortz of Battle Creek, MI, and Frances O’Clary of Oklahoma City, OK; bothers Claude and Claire Mercer and sister Mary Ellen Spencer; 6 grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends in visitation of Sunday, 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., with a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Monday, 9:15 A.M. going to Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL where Military Honors will be rendered.
