Wilma A. Demetris, 76 of Inverness, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Avante of Inverness. Born May 12, 1939 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to the late Norton and Nancy (Wycoff) Reese, and moved to Florida in 1961.
She had a long career at the Kapok Tree Restaurant in Clearwater, starting as a waitress, then working in the gift shop, and culminating her career as the Cashier Manager with 26 years of service. While there she met and married their steak cook, Andreas Demetris. They were married for 35 years before his passing on February 28, 2005. After moving back to Pennsylvania, she worked in the Medical Records Dept. for the Univesity of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Following her retirement, she moved back to Florida. Wilma enjoyed working in her garden, playing the organ, and was a master seamstress and baker.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, John (Rhonda) Weaver of Inverness; daughter, Peggy (David) Harris of New Port Richey, FL; step daughter Rita (Kostas) Dermentzoglou of Thessaloniki, Greece; one brother, John (Pat) Reese of Benezett, PA; two sisters, Ruth Tustin and Lenore (Joseph) Trafficante both of Washington, PA ; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bud and Mike Reese and sisters, Betty Aklin, Mary Carson, and Doris Reese.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, April 21st at 2:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness with Rev. Greg Kell of the Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
