Raymond J. Stilts, age 91, went to Heaven on September 27, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born on June 8, 1923 in Corning, NY to the late Raymond and Erma (Bacon) Stilts. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII. Raymond was employed by Ingersall-Rand as a machine operator. He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for many years. He also owned his own dairy farm, enjoyed working with his cattle, loved fishing and his miniature railroad train collection. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Dale (Bonnie) Stilts and Wayne (Margie) Stilts, all of Hernando, his daughter Jan (Alan) Cameron, Dunnellon; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, a sister Elizabeth Siebert of Inverness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Phyllis in August of 2014, a son Michael and sisters Irene, Dorothy and Ruth. Graveside committal services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery with military honors. The family invites friends to join them for a time of visitation at 1:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory after which the procession will form to the cemetery.
