Doris Lorraine Risedorf, 86, Inverness, passed away Sept 9, 2014 at her daughter’s residence and under the care of Hospice of Citrus Co. and Nature Coast. Mrs Risedorf was born on Aug 28, 1928 in Orange, NJ to the late Joseph and Ruth (Vought) Bauer and grew up in the South Orange area. She was employed as a secretary for Prudential Life Insurance and later for the Board of Education in New Jersey as a bookkeeper. She was devoted to her family and was active with her daughters in the Brownies, Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, and the East Hanover Drum & Bugle Corp. Doris enjoyed her crafting and was famous for her pumpkin pies and chocolate covered oreos. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. In 1981, she moved from New Jersey to South Carolina following her husband’s retirement after 33 years with P.S.G.& E. In 1988, they moved to Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 65 years, Donald Risedorf June 27, 2014 ; her sister, Vera Gamble and her son in law, Jay Needham.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Lynn Needham of Inverness and Sandra Jean Iannarone of Aurora, CO. There are five grandchildren, Tracey and Jim; Corinne and husband Brock, Wendy and husband John; Cindy and husband Kevin, and Michael; three great grandchildren, Jayden, Meagan, and Kendall. She also had her “special kids”, Laurie and Paul, Kate and husband John, Peter and his wife Kristin, and their daughter, Tessa.

The Celebration of Life will be offered Monday, Sept 15th, 4:00 PM at Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Walker of the Inverness First Church of God officiating. Interment will be in New Jersey. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 3:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Hospice of Citrus County, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
