JAMES W. “JIM” TWITTY, Jr., age 78, passed away May 22, 2014 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Jim was born on February 14, 1936 in Governor’s Island, NY to the late James W. Twitty, Sr. and Florence (King) Twitty. He attended the University of Florida and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi. He was a journalist and then bureau manager of the Tampa Tribune for 30 years. He served our country in the Army National Guard. Jim was two-time President of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce and co-chairman of the Bicentennial Committee. He was known for his excellent cooking, enjoyed reading, writing and traveling. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Twitty; sons Frederick “Rick” Twitty, Beverly Hills, FL, James W. Twitty, III, his wife Jennifer, Inverness; brother Gary L., his wife Claudia Twitty, LaJolla, CA; and five grandchildren Jeremy, his wife Bryceann, Jonathan, Jordan, Joshua, Nick and last, but certainly not least, his beloved dog “Boo.” He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for over 50 years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration and tribute to Jim’s life will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory.
