Betty Ireson, 88, Hernando, died May 11, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Bluefield, WV to the late Clarence and Athelia Crowell on March 21, 1926. She was a graduate of Beaver High School in Bluefield, WV and Alabama State College for Women at Montevallo, AL. She taught chemistry at Bluefield College in Bluefield, VA and Chemistry and Physics at Graham High School in Bluefield for 43 years. She retired in 1994 and moved to Hernando, FL in 1995. Her affiliations include the Hernando United Methodist Church, Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; Red Hat Society; Citrus Hills Women’s Club; and O.E.S. Chapter 102 in Bluefield.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Joyce Hodges, Citrus Hills; a sister, June Nash and her husband, Paul of Citrus Hills. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Wade Hodges, Thomas Ireson.
Betty’s life will be remembered at a Celebration of Life on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Chas E Davis Funeral Home With Crematory. Interment will be at a later date in Bluefield, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be sent to Hernando United Methodist Church in Hernando, FL.
