Mary Ann Showers, 83, of Floral City, Florida passed away on April 21, 2014 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. She was born in Holyoke, MA on April 14, 1931 to the late Michael J. and Helen T. (Butler) Sugrue. She arrived in this area in 1989, coming from Granby, MA. Mary Ann was a homemaker and attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo, meeting people and selling at the flea market. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, George L. Showers. Other survivors include children Gary (Karen) Showers of Charlton City, MA, Kevin Showers of Holyoke, MA, Patricia Grzelak of Knoxville, TN, Susan McQuillan of Oak Harbor, WA and Karen (Paul) Pacewicz of Suffield, CT; 5 grandchildren, Eric, Gary Jr., Christopher, Kevin, and Alyssa; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother Michael Sugrue and sister Helen Flematti. Mary Ann’s urn will be placed at the Massachusetts VA Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
