ROBERT W. “BOB” MITCHELL, age 86, a 30 year resident of Homosassa, FL, formerly a 40 year resident of Dedham, MA died Friday evening, March 21, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Ocala after a brief illness. He was born in Boston, one of six children and served his country in the U.S. Army during the 1950s. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Lehmann) Mitchell for over 62 years, and a loving father of Donnamarie (Tom) Gugliotta, Robert “Bobby” W. Mitchell, Jr., Barry (Susan) Mitchell, and Stacey (Troy) Allen, grandchildren Tommy (Rachel) Gugliotta, Tiffany Gugliotta; Melissa, Aprille and Robert Mitchell, III; Anastasia, Logan, Luke and Eve Allen and great-granddaughter Lilliana Gugliotta. He also leaves a brother Edward C. (Marge) Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Harry T. Mitchell, Jr., a sister Marjorie G. Mitchell and twins Edith and Ethel Mitchell. Before retiring to Florida, Bob operated his own refrigeration business and appliance store in Massachusetts. Bob’s passion was the Lion’s Club. Bob was a life member and former president of the Dedham Lions Club as well as District Governor of 33 K, a life member of the American Legion Post 18, Dedham, MA and has been for many years an active member of the Homosassa Lions Club where he had been the Eye Care chairman (glasses for the needy program) for 22 years and bingo chairman of the Homosassa Auxilliary for 10 years. He was also voted Lion of the Year twice. After his 61 years of perfect attendance, he was awarded “Life Membership”. In his spare time, Bob loved anything to do with model trains- and he had an attic full of them to prove it. If you couldn’t find Bob at the Lions Club, he would be found in the local Dairy Queen. A Funeral Tribute to Bob’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Burial will follow with military honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family invites friends to join them for visitation on Tuesday from 4-6 PM at the Chas. E.
