James B.”Ben” Wall, Master Chief Machinist Mate, US Navy (Ret), passed from this world to the next, January 10, 2014. A native of Pierson, Florida, he was born Oct 2, 1940 to the late Frank and Nellie (Scoggan) Wall. He served our country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and after retirement, he joined the postal service. Ben has enjoyed many trike travels, remaining active with the Nature Coast GWRRA; bowled with various local leagues; avidly followed the Florida Gators football team; fished when possible; and held the (Patriarchal) respect of surviving family members. His family has the deep roots of Florida Crackers with kin spread throughout the region. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Joy (Elder) Wall and his brother, Roy M. Wall. He is survived by his three children, John Rode, Warwick, RI; Michael Wall, Salisbury, MD.; Jennifer Hurst, Freistatt, MO and their families; two sisters, Virginia Hesse, Brooksville, FL and Anna King, Omaha, NE; three nieces two nephews; five grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and long-time friend of Joy and Ben, Pat Watson. A funeral tribute for James will be held on Thurday, January 16, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Burial with military honors will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will greet friends in visitation from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service.
