Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Clarence H Wright

Clarence H. Wright, 86, of Floral City, Florida, passed away at his residence Tuesday, November 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 20, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Jay C. and Pearl E. (Peppard) Wright. A true patriot, he dropped out of school to join the Navy during WW II. While stationed on Guam, he guarded Japanese prisoners. Later, he retired from the University of Toledo with twenty-five years of service in air quality control and boiler operations. An avid sports fan, he always said he “bled scarlet and gray” for Ohio State, and was always loyal to his home teams; the Cleveland Browns and the Toledo Rockets and he adopted the Gators and Tampa Bay Rays in Florida. He was always happy when he could go golfing with his son-in-laws or friends. He was a lifetime member of Friends of the Floral City Library. He had varied reading interests; American history, sports, and biographies, but trains were his biggest interest, as he was, at one time, a fireman on a steam engine, a job he loved. He loved to laugh, and to make others laugh. There were very few mornings his wife didn’t start her day laughing over something he said or did. Any good adjective you can think of would apply to him; the most honorable, decent man anyone could know. Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Bessie Louise Wright; his children, Sylvia (Jim) Longworth, Vickie Carter, Carol DeMoe, Sandi (Jed) Moskwa, Darlene (Bernie) Stuard, Charlene (Nick) Meisner, Charles (Cathy) DeMoe, Holly Sayre, Danny Joe (Melonie) DeMoe, Cherie Abalos, Rick (Tonya) DeMoe, and Kim Braden; 27 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. It took a lot for a man to marry a woman with ten children, but he was regarded as their Dad, and he loved them as his own. Thank God for the time we had to spend with him, and thank God for Hospice and the wonderful people who came into the families home, and relieved his pain. The only regret is they were not called much sooner. He is now pain free. The family will be receiving friends in visitation on Saturday, November 23, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, Florida. Clarence will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo, Ohio at a later date. Memorial donations are requested to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 64270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 in lieu of flowers.
