Maria R Kanaris

MARIA R. KANARIS, age 83, Homosassa, died February 5, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born in Martins Ferry, OH on October 12, 1929 to the late George and Theone (Pantelis) Hellen. She was a restaurateur, having owned restaurants for over 50 years, currently Emily’s in Homosassa. Not only a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a loving caregiver to many others, including her church family at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Lecanto. She was very active and served in the ministries in her church. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 64 years, Rousso Kanaris, her son and daughter-in-law George and Deborah Kanaris, all of Homosassa; daughter and son-in-law Theone and Richard Friend, Long Beach, NY, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Peter, in September 1994 and all of her siblings, four brothers and a sister. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Gardens in Clearwater. The family will receive friends in visitation on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home.
