HELEN LOUISE MURPHY, age 97, Inverness, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. Helen was born on May 19, 1915 in Imlay City, Michigan to the late Findlay and Olive Detweiler. Helen was a homemaker and teacher; she taught disabled children, a job she enjoyed very much. Survivors include her son Ronald (Beverly) Murphy, Punta Gorda, FL and daughter Linda (George) Zick, Hernando, FL; her brother John Detweiler, Berkley, MI; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Murphy, two sons Clifford and Robert and her siblings, Donald Detweiler, Orthabelle Wood, Dorothy Jones and Betty Jewell. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will receive friends in visitation from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. The family requests donations to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 in lieu of flowers to help them continue their wonderful care of others as they did for Helen.
