George J Shillcock

George J. Shillcock, 84, Inverness, FL passed away January 11, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Citrus County, Lecanto, FL. He was born on February 22, 1930 in Newark, NJ to the late Joseph T. and Loretta C. (Smith) Shillcock. George served our country as an MP in the United States Army in Germany and then in Korea during the Korean conflict. After serving his country he held various jobs such as a NY/NJ Port Authority Policeman, a bank teller, a milkman, real estate agent and a grocery store clerk before beginning work at Suburban Propane Gas Corporation where he held various positions of increasing responsibilities for more than 25 years before retiring as the Director of Internal Audits. He arrived in this area in 1992, coming from New Jersey. He was constantly giving back to the communities in which he lived, having volunteered in the Brick NJ Breton Woods Fire Department, Bloomfield CT Fire Department, the Sparta NJ Ambulance Squad and the Beverly Hills Surveillance. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Inverness Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Arlene in 2013, and 3 sisters, Agnes Fay, Loretta Cambria, and Genevieve Shillcock. Survivors include children Frank J. (Mary) Shillcock of Weeki-Wachee, FL, Donald D. Shillcock of Inverness, George J. (Alicia) Shillcock, Jr. of Harrison, OH, James M. (Peggy) Shillcock of Vernon, NJ, and Lori Anne Quinn of Hartford, CT; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic in Beverly Hills. Inurnment will follow the mass at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
