JAMES E. SIMMONS, age 81, Inverness, died July 24, 2013 at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Center. James was born on May 14, 1932 in Ronceverte, WV to the late Charles H. and Mabel (Shepard) Simmons. He served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. James was employed by the United States Government as a property disposal officer for over 30 years. He enjoyed painting and working with model trains. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Simmons, sons Steven E. (Phyllis) Simmons, Eustis, FL, Brent (Mitzi) Simmons, St. Petersburg, FL and Wade D. Simmons, Inverness; his daughter Joy L. Simmons, Inverness; brothers Charles H. Simmons Jr., Vero Beach, FL, Lee Simmons, Lavernia, TX, Clarence Simmons, Lecanto, FL ; sisters Netta Card, Sylva, NC, Ruth Willis, Greenville, SC, Sharon Simmons, Lakeland, FL and Carol Miller, Whittier, NC, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Graveside Military Service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 2:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends in visitation from 12:30 PM until the procession forms for the cemetery at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home.
