Margaret Ann Mattner, 78, of Inverness, Florida passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026 at HCA Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Florida.
Peggy was born June 21, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Frederick Behrens and Frances (McGurr) Behrens. When Peggy was just a young child her mother died and her father remarried to Ruth Behrens. Peggy married Alfred Henry Otto Mattner, Jr. on July 26, 1969 in Old Tappan, New Jersey. Shortly after getting married, Peggy went to Kodiak, Alaska to be with her husband Alfred (Al) who was stationed aboard the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Storris. During her marriage with Al, she lived in many states in the United States as he continued his Coast Guard career.
After both of them retired they settled down in Inverness, Florida, where she lived for 23 years.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Alfred H.O. Mattner, Jr. of Inverness, Florida, her one daughter Janet Lee Mattner of Hahira, Georgia, and a grandchild, Aahna Mattis of Hahira, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ruth Behrens.
