Carol L. Holmes

Carol L. Holmes

Carol L. Holmes, of Spring Hill, passed away peacefully in Brooksville under the care of Sturgill Hospice on February 22, 2026. She was 94 years of age. Carol was born and raised in Woodhaven, NY to Roy and Helen (Weston) Erdmann.

She worked in banking for many years. Carol met Gerald J. Holmes in 1951, and they married in 1955. While still living in New York, Carol loved going to Broadway shows, and all the entertainment the big city provided. They decided to retire and make the permanent move from Uniondale, NY to Florida, and they made the move in 1987, making Spring Hill their home.

Although retirement was the main reason for the move, Carol decided to go back to work part-time in the banking industry. When she became a proud grandparent, she then proudly became a full-time caregiver to her grandchildren. Carol also enjoyed
floating in the pool, playing mahjong and dominoes, crocheting, and dancing in her younger years. She also could not stay off of her computer and Facebook, she was hooked! She also had a strong Lutheran faith.

Upon meeting someone new, Carol was not a stranger for too long. She loved talking and finding out about people, and letting them know about her. She made friends quite easily. Carol will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her son Wayne R. Holmes and by her devoted husband of 53 years, Gerald. Carol is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Michael Nigro of Spring Hill; her grandchildren: Ryan Nigro (Megan), Michael Nigro (Samantha), and Lindsey Blomeley (Joshua); and her great grandchildren: Eva, Gabby, Riley, and Levi Nigro, and Chase Blomeley. Arrangements are in the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness.
