Daphane Annette Lara of Beverly Hills, Florida, passed away at the age of 84 on February 21, 2026, at the Grove Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hernando, Florida.

Daphane, better known as “Dee,” was born on September 26, 1941, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, to the late George and Margaret Toms. She lived most of her life in Excelsior Springs and moved to Florida six years ago from Richmond, Missouri.

Dee began working as a teenager operating an elevator at the historic Elms Hotel. Throughout her life, she held a variety of interesting positions before retiring from the Missouri Department of Social Services after ten years of service. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Bingo, frequently as often as 3 times a week. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Sharbono of San Francisco, CA and Devin Lara of Beverly Hills, FL; her sister, Mary Lee Baker of Lexington, Missouri; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be announced at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City. Burial will follow under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, Florida.
