Constance Nixon wishes to announce that her beloved husband, of 63 years, JD Nixon Jr., departed from this world on January 16, 2026, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Connie desires your presence at his visiting hours on January 27, 2026, from 10:00A.M. – 11:00A.M. The location is Fort Cooper Baptist Church on 4222 South Florida Avenue in Inverness, Florida 34450. A service of praise will follow at 11:00A.M. at the same location.
JD Nixon was born on July 25, 1934, to Margaret Duffy-Nixon and JD Nixon, Sr. JD had two sisters, Mattie and Louise, and two brothers, GL and John. JD was in the middle of the birth order and the last surviving member of his family.
JD attended local schools in Mississippi including Old Terry High. He left school in his senior year to join the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1956 and began working in Boston, MA.
JD met his wife in Hyde Park, MA and they were married on October 12, 1962. God blessed them with two children, Thomas and Brenda Nixon. They in turn, blessed them with 4 grandchildren, Jadis and Jissell; Ansel and Justin. JD and Connie were also blessed with 63 years of marriage.
The Nixon family traveled to Adak and Kodiak, Alaska, as well as Naples, Italy, in over 24 years of Civil Service employment with the United States Government. JD also had employment at Charleston Naval Shipyard as a rigger; Ness Security as a Sargent of Security; Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a rigger; and as a bus driver.
The driving factor in their family was their strong commitment to the “Holy Bible” and that is truly the Word of God. They knew that they were sinners and had committed sin. (Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.”) However, Jesus Christ paid for their sin by dying for them and rising from the grave. (John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus) should not perish but have everlasting life.”) Therefore, they called on Jesus to save them from their sin, and He did so. (Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”)
With this assurance, Connie Nixon and her brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ know that JD Nixon is alive in Heaven today, and they will see him again. “As you are, I was; as I am, you shall be; therefore, prepare to be with me.”
