Betty F. Madsen, of Inverness, passed away peacefully under Vitas Hospice Care on Friday January 16th, 2026 at her home. She was 91 years old. Betty was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee to Arthur and Laverne (Taylor) Hardin. She met Jack C. Bowers in 1953 and they married in 1954. Betty spent the first part of her career of her life in the restaurant business and then the second part in nursing. During both of her careers her most important role in life was taking care of her family. Betty and Jack moved their family from Chicago, Illinois to Florida in 1973. Betty lost her beloved Jack after 44 years of a wonderful life together. Betty was a woman of Strong Christian Faith and after losing Jack, God led her to meet Ronald Madsen on the steps of the Bonita Springs Church of God and they were married in November of 1998 and spent 21 years together until Ron passed away in 2019. Ron and Betty were long time members of the Crossgate Church of God. Betty had 4 children of her own & Ron had 6 children of his own and from the time that they first met, their two families melded together as one and are still a close family unit today. Betty was preceded in Death by both of her two loving husbands, Jack & Ron, she was also preceded in Death by 4 of her step children whom she loved as her own, Angela, Ronnie, Mark & Charles. Those who are left to cherish her memory are her sons: William Lux of Crystal River; Jack Bowers & his wife Hillary Bowers of Naples, FL; her daughters Linda Crossley and her husband Scott of Inverness; Peggy See and her husband Wayne of Point Pleasant West Virginia. Along with her step children Clifford Madsen of Arizona and Julie Jarrell and her husband Scott of Ohio. Betty was also a grandmother to thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in Death by several of her life long friends and is survived by many more. Betty enjoyed all church activities, cooking, and “Going Junkin” as she called it. She was a woman of Strong Faith and Great Love and will be missed by all who knew her. She will be laid to rest with her Beloved husband Jack in the Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
