Allen Edward Popjoy

Allen Edward Popjoy, affectionately known as Ed, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at his home in Lecanto under Vitas Hospice care. He was 86 years of age. Ed was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Charles T. and Emily (Hughes) Popjoy, Jr. He served in the United States Army, but once he was honorably discharged, he made a living as a long-distance truck driver, working for Walter J. Styer Trucking.  Ed met and later married the love of his life, Elsa, in December 1973. They moved down to Citrus County from Pennsylvania in 1994. They made Calvary Church their home church, and together they traveled to Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Kenya as missionaries. They even helped build a church in Nicaragua. Ed not only enjoyed missionary travel, but he also loved spending time in his garden and doing yard work, reading, and putting jigsaw puzzles together. He not only was preceded in death by his parents, but also by his loving wife of 43 years Elsa in 2016.

Those left to cherish Ed’s memory is his brother Charles T. Popjoy, III (Esther), of Glenmoore, PA; his sisters: Suzanne Mudock and Sarah Styer of Downingtown, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Baldwin and his wife Ellen, and his brother in law, Walter Styer.

His family will hold a celebration of Ed’s life at a later date as well as his Calvary Church family. Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
