James H. “Jim” Dunigan

James H. “Jim” Dunigan, of Inverness/Floral City, passed away peacefully at his home under Vitas Hospice care on Sunday, August 3, 2025. He was 80 years old. Jim was born in Lakewood, NJ to Francis “Frank” and Edna (Yard) Dunigan and raised in Toms River, NJ. He served a brief stint in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1965. He assisted his dad in his small engine repair business from the age of 10 years old, and even received his Associates Degree in Business, in order to help run the business. Through the years, Jim owned and operated many different businesses himself, including long-distance trucking, commercial construction, an auto dealership, an art gallery called, “It’s All Art”, and an ice cream parlor called, “The Sugar Shack” (both in downtown Inverness). He had a lifelong love of cars and was known as a jack of all trades and consummate handy man. He was a very active member of his church, Calvary Church of Inverness. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Those left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving wife of 52 years Barbara Dunigan of Inverness; his sons James H. Dunigan, Jr. (Erin) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Lawrence Dunigan (Tammy) of Lecanto; his daughters Tamara Gerogiannis (Alfred) of Ocala and Samantha Costello (Brian) of Arkansas; his brother Raymond “Skip” Dunigan of Texas; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Francis “Topper” Dunigan. A Celebration of Jim’s life will take place in September, date to be determined, at Calvary Church (2728 E. Harley St., Inverness, FL 34453). Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
