Christine “Chris” Schoenborn Norris, 73, passed away peacefully under the care of Cornerstone Hospice in Sumterville on Friday, July 18, 2025.
Born in Belleville, Illinois, Chris was the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Mae Ann (Yocks) Schoenborn. At the age of seven, her family moved to Lake Panasoffkee, where she met her lifelong best friend and future business partner, Gail Barnard.
After graduating high school, Chris pursued her passion for beauty and style, earning her cosmetology license and soon after opening her own salon alongside Gail.
Chris met the love of her life, Robert J. Norris, when she was just 13. They married five years later and shared a devoted partnership that spanned 55 years.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Chris was also a dedicated community member. She served on numerous boards and committees throughout her life, most notably the Sumter County School Board, where she served with distinction from 1992 until 2020.
Known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit, Chris made friends easily and was deeply respected and loved by all who knew her. Her impact on the community and those around her will be felt for generations.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Norris of Lake Panasoffkee; daughter Heather Christenson (Kevin) of Jacksonville; sons Levi Norris (Terra) of Lake Panasoffkee and Garrett Norris (Stacy) of Center Hill; her brother Mark Schoenborn (Troxie) of Ocala; seven cherished grandchildren; and her best friend and “sister by heart,” Gail Barnard.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to celebrate Chris’s life are kindly asked to consider a donation to the Chris Norris Scholarship Fund, continuing her legacy of service and support for future generations.
Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
