Ruth Jakubowski Oleksiak, 69, of Crystal River, Florida passed away July 5, 2025 peacefully with her family by her side after a long illness. She was born in Webster, Massachusetts and spent most of her youth in neighboring Dudley attending schools there until graduating from Bartlett High School in 1975. She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Chester Oleksiak, a son, Joey Oleksiak both of whom she made her home with. She also leaves two brothers, Michael Jakubowski (Barbara) of Kennebunk, Maine, John Jakubowski of Charlton, Massachusetts, and a sister, Jean Jakubowski of Dudley, her step-mother, Barbara Jakubowski of Dudley, she also leaves her little beloved doggo Willow who also misses her terribly, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother James Jakubowski of Hernando, Florida and a niece Lynn Jakubowski also of Hernando. Ruth led a life filled with a variety of careers; from x-ray technician, to medical secretary, to running a successful typesetting business until health concerns forced her to retire. She loved to zoom around in her corvette with the roof down and preferred standard transmissions! She loved to banter politics and was extremely well read. She was a fiercely devoted and loyal woman; despite her own failing health, she was her mom’s major caretaker until her passing in 2001. She and her family moved from Thompson Connecticut to Florida in 2012 for warmer weather and sunnier skies to enjoy their retirement years. She fought a courageous battle with MS and never complained about the pain and discomfort she dealt with on a daily basis.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Fr. Mike Suszynski, Celebrant. Friends may call on the family one hour prior for a visitation. Ruth will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL at a later date. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL is assisting the family with Cremation with Care Arrangements
