Imre Antal Kantor

Imre Antal Kantor, more affectionately known as “Jim”, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 under Vitas Healthcare inpatient care in Lecanto. He was 88 years old. Jim was born in Szentes, Hungary to Imre Kantor and Irene Lepitsch Kantor. He and his mom escaped WWII when he was just a young boy, then as a young man, he escaped the Hungarian Revolution to Australia in 1956. There is where he met and eventually married Ella R. McCourtie. They eventually moved to Canada, had two daughters and raised them in Massachusetts. Jim was a self-taught electrical engineer and he worked as an engineering manager with and electronic manufacturer. He and his family eventually left the snow and cold weather behind and moved to Citrus County in 2000. Jim was a soccer fanatic, and his favorite team was Manchester United out of England. He could make, fix, and do just about anything!  Jim will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jansci Kantor and his sister Erika Szathmary. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years Ella R. Kantor of Lecanto; his daughters Gabrielle Vallee of Lecanto; and Katy Kantor of Ocoee; and his grand dogs. Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
