After an amazing lifelong journey; Joyce Permaul Van Nutt passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at The Reserve at Citrus a caring Assisted Living Facility where Joyce spent the last month of her life before passing on June 19, 2022, at the age of 95 years.


As known by friends and family her birth was registered after the holidays and legally known as January 5, 1927. Joyce was born on Christmas Day 1926 to Joseph and Hilda De Corum Permaul in Georgetown British Guiana now known as Guyana. She married Basil Singh in 1947 and divorced in 1953 but through that union came the loves of her life, her sons, Joe and John. Joyce learned midwifery from her grandmother, attended nursing school in Guyana then emigrated to the US in 1966 where she finished her nursing education. She sent for her sons in 1967. They settled in Teaneck NJ and in 1972 she met and married James Van Nutt. They moved to   Hendersonville NC in 1978 and then relocated to Inverness Fl in 1988 where they both happily enjoyed the rest of their lives. Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Family was the focal point of her life. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Joyce will always be remembered by all who were blessed to know her to be full of love and encouragement; especially to her friends and family. Her cards and daily calls filled with warmth and kindness will be missed. She is preceded in death by her son John Singh and her husband James Van Nutt. Survived by
her son Joe Singh and wife Jessica, 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.


Viewing to be held on July 16, 2022, between 10:00am and 11:30am at Charles E. Davis Funeral  Home 3705 S Florida Ave Inverness Fl 34450 Funeral Services to follow at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 550 U.S. Hwy 41S Inverness Fl 34450 at 12:00pm.
