Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On
Margaret Lynn McLaughlin (Lowery)

Margaret Lynn McLaughlin (Lowery)

Margaret Lynn McLaughlin (Lowery) went home to the Lord on Monday, September 14, 2026.  Margaret was born in the Panama Canal Zone, Gorgas Hospital in July, 1953, to George E. Lowery and Alice Brayton Lowery.  Margaret lived in the Panama Canal Zone and enjoyed a good Zonian life and traveled to all parts of the beautiful country of Panama.  She spoke English, Spanish and Bajun.  Margaret went to Balboa High School in Balboa, Canal Zone and graduated in the Class of 1972.  She worked for the U.S. Army, Tropic Test Center until she gave birth to her daughter Allison.  Margaret then became a home maker and to raise Allison.  Margret loved flowers, plants and gardening and those became her life time obsession.  In 1996 when her husband William P. McLaughlin retired from the Department of Defense in Panama, and along with daughter, Allison M. McLaughlin, the family moved to Floral City, Florida. After relocating to Florida, Margaret opened a Florist Shop and did very well with her talents and her unique styles of floral design.    She always said that God blessed her hands to create all that she did.  She was gifted indeed.

Margaret was very active with the Panama Canal Society and did florals and decorations for the Annual Panama Canal Society Reunion and luncheons throughout the year.  She was on the Executive Board as well, supporting the organization with her ideas and professional opinions.  She was a volunteer for the organization 26 years.

Margaret is survived by her husband William, daughter Allison, and brothers, Robert, Jack and Donald Lowery, and step-siblings Allene and Hector Lowery.

Margaret lived a wonderful wholesome life; she was a very caring person and loved her family and friends so very much.  She loved her garden.  A sign hangs in her garden that reads, “Margaret’s Garden”.  Margaret will live forever in each heart she touched.

Be still, my soul! the Lord is on your side

Bill and Alison, I can’t express in words how much Margaret touch me. She was always encouraging, and I loved exchanging creative thoughts with her over the years. Margaret had a talent to bring her creations to life, either it was using flowers or her sewing. She was always supportive. Sending hugs.
