Robert G. Aldunate

Robert G. Aldunate, 80, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2026 in Hernando,  Florida. 

Born on October 19, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, Robert lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, service, and, above all, a deep love for his family.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his brother, Carlos, and sister-in-law, Merri; his daughters, Cristina and Debbie, and son- in-law Dan; and his cherished grandchildren. He leaves behind a family who will forever remember his love, generosity, strength, and the many moments and memories they were fortunate enough to share with him.

Robert proudly served his country as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, completing three tours of duty. His service and courage were recognized with the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. His dedication to his fellow veterans continued throughout his life as a member of the Elks, Moose, and VFW organizations.

To those who knew him, Robert was the kind of person who could always be counted on. He was generous, hardworking, and loved his family dearly. He had a way of making things happen, often saying, “I got a guy,” as if there was no problem that couldn’t be solved with the right connection. He also lived by the words, “I’m not here for a long time, I’m here for a good time,” a saying that perfectly captured his spirit and his approach to life.

Robert’s life was one of service, adventure, hard work, and love. Although his passing was sudden and his absence will be deeply felt, the impact he made on the lives of those who knew and loved him will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the VFW or the National Park Foundation.

A Graveside Memorial with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:30A.M., at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Friends and Family should arrive at the funeral home at 9:30A.M. We will leave promptly at 9:45A.M. in a funeral procession to the cemetery. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness,, Florida, is assisting the family with services.
