Charles Edgar “Charlie” Haire, age 92, of Hernando, FL died August 26, 2026 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice.
Born in Mocksville, NC, he was the son of the late John Stokes and Mary (Cleveland) Haire.
Charlie served proudly in the United States Air Force, and went on to work for the inspector general with the Department of Defense. He was Lutheran by faith. He and Carol moved to Citrus County from Dawsonville, GA in 2002.
A golfer and angler, Charlie enjoyed his time on the course and on the water. He shot 5 Holes-in-One, the first one at the age of 70. Charlie loved to go on cruises and spend time trying his luck. One of his favorite places was the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS. He enjoyed playing “Hand and Foot.” Charlie was the Master Griller for social gatherings and had a reputation for being an excellent Bloody Mary maker.
Left to cherish his memory is devoted wife of 38 years, Carol; his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Paul and Dianne Haire of Jackson, GA; his brother, George Haire of Mocksville, NC; grandson, Brandon Haire and his wife, Brittney of Barnesville, GA; and great grandchildren, Elijah and Hudson Haire.
Committal services with Military Honors will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 9:30 AM. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home about 8:15 to follow in procession. Departure time will be around 8:30.
